a 3 wire dryer is only 220, where the 4 wire also has a neutral for running 110 prereferals. if your dryer came with a 3 prong plug then you don't need the added neutral in your receptical. cap it and save it incase one day you do need a 4 wire. shoot. i’m in a rental. so changing the outlet isn’t an option for me.
